This Loree AK bore oboe was made in 1989 and offers a sweet dark tone and very good intonation. It plays evenly throughout the octaves with an especially rich and resonant lower register.
Brian Charles cleaned, oiled, adjusted, and play-tested this oboe here in our shop and it’s ready to play in every way. This is a very nice performance level instrument.
The grenadilla wood body is in excellent condition. There was an extremely small crack on the top exterior of the upper joint. It was professionally, and beautifully repaired years ago (and is very hard to even locate).
The full conservatory, full plateau silver plated keywork system is in clean, shiny, excellent condition. It has some new pads and excellent condition pads throughout.
This oboe features 3rd octave key, left hand F, F resonance key, low Bb, Bb resonance key, banana key, and both trill keys. It’s an ‘AK’ model which means the bore is slightly modified for an even more sweet and projecting tone.
A “Dutch Thumb Rest” is installed, with the back plate in the case (not attached). This is a nice $150 upgrade that is intended to take the weight of the oboe off a small area of your thumb, to relieve pain and tension. The thumb rest can be swapped for a smaller Loree thumb rest without difficulty, if the extra wide surface of this upgraded thumb rest does not feel comfortable to you.
The original hard shell case is in excellent condition with small dents and bumps on the exterior as would be expected. The original cloth cover is in worn but good condition.
